Read on their own they give a wonderful flavour of Sussex. Read together, Bob Copper's book becomes a real adventure and Belloc's original trip is all the better for the reverence shown to him by Bob Copper - who was a formidable part of Sussex culture in his own right. Like you I'm after my own copy of the Footsteps, but West Sussex County Library will have to do at such steep prices.... They’re both really lovely books.
